Christopher Lynch

     Chris moved to the Bay Area in 2002 and founded C Lynch International. Since then, he has worked with a variety of clients in the information technology, biomedical, environment and wine industries, advising them on international negotiations and business strategies. In addition, he has taught classes on international negotiating at Golden Gate University, Sonoma State University and the Silicon Valley Center for International Trade Development. He is Chairman of the German-American Business Association of California (www.gaba-ca.org).

From 1997-2001, Chris was the US Consul General in Hamburg, Germany. As the senior US government representative in Northern Germany, he focused on the growing sectors in the regions such as New Media and biotechnology. To help US companies to reach top-level government and private sector leaders, he organized a series of international conferences on subjects such as E-government, computer security, biotechnology, and doing business in the Baltic Sea Region.

Another major focus was on supporting US firms attending the world-leading trade fairs in Hanover and Hamburg. In representing US interests, Mr. Lynch worked with senior level government and private sector officials from the United States, Germany and the Baltic Sea region.

From 1994-1997, Mr. Lynch was the Economic and Commercial Counselor at the US Embassy in El Salvador, Latin America. He negotiated a number of trade agreements and successfully lobbied on behalf of US firms for contracts totaling over $100 million. He advised the government of El Salvador on its privatization process. With the US Chamber of Commerce in El Salvador, he organized the US pavilion at the International Fair of El Salvador as well as an information center for new-to-market companies. He won several awards for management excellence and innovation.

In 1993-94, while on a government-private sector exchange program, Mr. Lynch helped Caterpillar Financial Services become licensed and open subsidiaries in Spain, Portugal and Mexico. For the Mexican subsidiary, he developed a business plan for a holding company and four subsidiaries in order to take full advantage of Mexican law and tax code. He advised Caterpillar on its negotiations with the Mexican government.

Mr. Lynch had additional assignments with the Department of State in Spain (Financial Attaché), Chile (Economic Officer), Germany (Economic Officer in Bonn), Colombia (Vice-Consul) and Washington DC (International Economist in the Office Energy Affairs). Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Mr. Lynch worked at the US Department of Commerce (Office of Trade Policy) and the US Trade Representative.

Mr. Lynch has a MA from the Pamplin School of Business at Virginia Tech and a BS from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He speaks fluent Spanish and German.
